Since 1974, SDT International provides various sectors of the chemical-, oil-, automobile and space industry industry with advanced ultrasonic transmitters and both ultrasonic and non-ultrasonic sensors allowing it’s customers to set up a predictive maintenance program.

Since 1990, and with the development of their Class Type Approved Sherlog TA, SDT International is serving the marine industry as well and this in close co-operation with Mr. Walter Vervloesem, marine consultant and Chairman of the IMCS Group of Companies. The co-operation between both companies has resulted in the development of a world-wide hatch cover tightness training program, which was accredited by the Nautical Institute in October 2003. Moreover, in analogy with the shore based industry, and as a result from continuous efforts in raising awareness about ultrasonic testing applications and techniques, several ship owners have now also discovered the advantages of using ultrasound detection techniques to supplement their on-board preventive-/ predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programs.
