IMCS Marine and Cargo surveyors - IMCS Training Academy
IMCS Training Academy
One of the cornerstones of the IMCS Group policy is to provide house styled and high standard survey and consultancy services which is a major challenge in a continuously evolving maritime industry. Therefore, a great deal of effort is placed in on-going training, coaching, continuous professional development and education through different IMCS Group in-house training initiatives, group meetings and educational programs which are made available to IMCS Group members and Associate Members.
The fact that many surveyors of the IMCS Group have specialist knowledge in one or more marine related disciplines triggered the idea of sharing this expertise with the maritime industry through the IMCS Training Academy. This initiative is managed by the Chairman of the IMCS Group of Companies, Mr. W. Vervloesem (FNI) who has been involved with training issues since 2001 and developed a.o. the SDT-IMCS hatch cover training course in order to allow operators of ultrasonic hatch cover tightness testing equipment to comply with the requirements of IACS URZ17 for service suppliers (see www.sdt.be). This level 1 hatch cover training course is supplemented by tailor made in-house trainings (level 2) for the world’s leading hatch cover manufacturers, shipping companies, shipyards and classification societies.
The IMCS Training Academy provides specific and tailor made training courses on a variety of maritime issues, and supports training providers with assistance for specific projects, DVD’s and videos, books as well as computer based training programs. Website visitors who would like to know more about the IMCS Training Academy are free to contact Mr. Vervloesem on waltervervloesem@telenet.be

We are also proud to advise that the IMCS Training Academy is a board- and founding member of the Magellan web - Academy of Shipping and Transport (MAST) which is a web-based training platform that provides practical oriented education for companies and individuals alike who want to enhance competencies in specific maritime fields such as ship surveys, ship crane operation, steel loading procedures, marine insurances, hatch cover or engine design, and in many other fields of the marine industry. This project is managed from Cyprus and is supported by many industry majors and leading shipping companies. Further details can be found on www.mast-edu.eu.
